Designing a Responsive Gaming Experience

Introduction

The Fantasy Sports Knockout platform is a fully responsive web experience that combines daily fantasy, season-long fantasy leagues, and knockout pools into one unified system. Users can create lineups based on standard roster requirements, with the flexibility to select any player without team-locking restrictions.

My Role

I worked as the Product Designer for this project, starting with understanding the fundamentals of the National Football League (NFL) including player positions, game rules, timeouts, kickoffs, and how winners are determined. Since this product involved fantasy gaming and real-money contests, I also studied how users engage with betting-style game mechanics and validated these details with the research team.

I conducted user interviews to uncover pain points and collaborated with developers to understand API limitations and data constraints. I designed the complete end-to-end wireframes—from user sign-up and identity verification to joining games, creating lineups, participating in contests, and determining winners and losers.

As the platform was fully responsive, I also designed mobile layouts to ensure an optimised and consistent experience across devices.
